The Waiting Room

I recall numerous times rushing to the emergency room with my children. Either they had a high fever or knowing something was wrong. But did not know what it was.  I either had to wait to be seen or waited to hear the diagnosis from the doctor. At the moment, millions of thoughts raced through my mind and I began to prepare myself for the “what if’s”.

Have you ever looked up the definition on waiting?  Oxford’s Dictionary states, “Stay where one is or delay action until a particular time or until something else happens. One of the biggest challenges for me is to wait.  Having to wait patiently for certain things. Whether waiting to hear the results from the doctor, a grade on an exam, a promotion at work or what am I suppose to be doing in this life?

It becomes hard to stay the course and not become impatient or saturated with frustration. In hopes that I do not make a drastic move and makes matters worse.  Maybe you are going through a difficult time today, or have been waiting on certain results.  You are becoming weary in the waiting or are afraid the situation will repeat itself once again.  It can be so difficult to “stay where one is

There have been many times in my life that I did not get the results on what I had been waiting on. That I went ahead of God and gave myself the results that seem to fit my current situation because I felt the needed to do something about it.

You would think I have the initials M.D., after my name.  I have been the doctor of my life and came out with my own results, diagnosis and suggestions.  That streak of rebellion kicks in and says, “I know best and since your not moving God, I am.  “At times I hear the Lord saying, “How many times are you going to continue to go around the same block and what makes you think you know what is best for you?” “Am I not your creator and have orchestrated your footsteps?

I can see the rolling of the eyes now or the attitude rising within you.  The pride and impatience in us can speak louder and wants results now! What I have learned throughout this is, God knows what is best for our lives.   What if I told you that in the waiting, the diagnosis may not be what you want it to be at that moment?  That at times you have to stay where one is” until the doctor gives you the results. He knows what is best for you! Wait in that!

But they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint (Is.  41:30).

Wait for the Lordbe strong and take heart and wait for the Lord” (Ps. 27:14).
