Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a desire fulfilled is a tree of life.
I have a Diploma in Counseling with Marriages and Families, Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology with Life Coaching and currently working on a concentration in Crisis and Trauma. A wonderful husband, three beautiful children and have a dog named “Duke” that is like one of my babies.
In 1999, my life took a different turn where I was lost, hopeless and on a brink of a divorce and was going no where. My outlook on life was negative and dark. I endured abuse, struggled with rejection, a people pleaser, and kept looking in all the wrong places for validation and approval. Everywhere I searched, I would pick up another scar that added to the ones I already endured, and it validated what I was told.
I spent the majority of my life searching in all the wrong places to fill the holes. I would cave into fears, became addicted to affirmations, whether it meant to lower my standards. Never one to believe in me and allowed others to tell me who I was. I used different things to numb the pain, but at the end of the day, I was left empty.
Many years went by, where I allowed these things to rule my life and became tired of being that hamster in a cage, going nowhere. Zig Ziglar says, “If you aim at nothing, you will hit it every time.” This was when I had my encounter. I began to aim to seek not man’s approval but God and his approval, acceptance, and validation, and this was when those feelings started to dissipate.
I have observed how many of ME’s out there want to stop spinning in that same cycle, but until you get face where you genuinely are at and continue to aim at nothing, you will keep hitting it every time! I have been counseling for fifteen years and recognized how I dealt with trying to find acceptance and meaning that today is how I help others find theirs.
I’ve helped many clients break through the obstacles that seem to hold them back in their lives. Life’s too short to be unhappy, unsure, or unfulfilled. I want to be able to help you the same way. Read through my blogs, and invite me to work with helping you personally to identify and meet your goals.
